Japan is thought to be related to the Ural-Altaic family of languages Turkish, Mongolian, Manchu and Korean covers. An early form of the Japanese existed from about the 3rd century AD. But it was only later that the Japanese had the opportunity to write. The writing started using them were Chinese, imported from China and Korea, along with a variety of technology, political concepts and Buddhism. These imported Chinese characters remain in the Japanese language in the form of kanji characters. However, the difficulty in adapting to the monosyllabic Chinese writing on the polysyllabic Japanese language resulted in the development of hiragana and katakana symbols now used alongside the kanji characters in written Japanese.
