World Statues

 Top 10 world famous statue:

Moai Statue:
The world-famous moai statues on Easter Island are monolithic, one of  the most isolated islands on earth. The famous statues  carved by the Polynesian settlers of the island, usually between about 1250 AD and 1500 AD. In addition to the deceased  ancestors, the moai are also  regarded as the embodiment  of powerful living or ex-leaders.  The highest moai founded, called Paro, was almost 10 meters (33  ft) high and weighed 75 tons.  The heaviest set was shorter but squatter moai weighs 86 tons and  an unfinished sculpture, if completed, would be about 21 meters (69  ft) long and weighing about 270 tons have been. The images were halted when the Europeans first visited the island, but most would be thrown in later conflicts between clans. Today, about 50 moai have been  re-established on the Easter Island museum or elsewhere.



Christ the Redeemer Statue:
Christ the  Redeemer is really a statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro. Situated  at the height of the actual 700 meters (2, 300 ft) Corcovado hill, offers a magnificent panorama of the inside of Guanabara Bay to the true north to Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas in the  actual south. The statue stands 39. 6 meters  away (130 meters) high,  including the 9. 5 meters (31  ft) pedestal, but 30 meters (98 ft) wide. It is one of the current largest of its kind in the world, although the statue of Cristo de los angeles Concordia in Bolivia, is  a little bigger. A symbol of Christianity, is the famous statue becoming  an icon of Rio and Brazil.



Statue of Liberty:
The Statue of Liberty is a monumental neo-classical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, designed by Frederic Bartholdi and dedicated on October 28, 1886. The statue, a gift to the United States from the people of France, is a garment female figure Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom, a torch and a tabula Ansata (one tablet is reminiscent of the law) which carries registered the date of the Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776. A broken chain lies at her feet. The image has become an icon of freedom and the United States.





 Great Sphinx:
Located on the Giza Plateau in Egypt, the Great Sphinx is one of the largest and oldest statues in the world, but basic facts like who was the model for the face, when it was built, and by whom, are still debated . It is the largest monolith statue in the world but it is considerably smaller than the pyramids around it. Despite conflicting evidence and views over the years, the traditional conception of modern Egyptologists in general is that the Great Sphinx was built in about 2500 BC by the Pharaoh Khafre, the supposed builder of the second pyramid of Giza.







 David Statue :
David is a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture created between 1501 and 1504, by Italian artist Michelangelo. It is a 5.17 meter (17 foot) marble statue of a standing male nude. The picture represents the Biblical hero David, a favorite subject in art of Florence.Originally assignment as one of a series of images of prophets are placed along the roofline of the east end of the Duomo of Florence, the statue was in place in a public square outside the Palazzo della Signoria, the seat of civic government in Florence, where it was unveiled on September 8, 1504. Due to the nature of the hero that he represented, quickly came the defense of civil liberties embodied in the Florentine Republic, an independent city state threatened on all sides by powerful rival states and by the hegemony of the Medici family symbolize. Mount Nemrut Statue:
Nemrut is 2.134 meters (7,001 ft) high mountain in southeastern Turkey, near the city of Adiyaman. In 62 BC, King Antiochus Theos I Commagene built on the mountain top a tomb-sanctuary flanked by huge statues (8-9 m/26-30 m high) of himself, two lions, two eagles and various Greek and Persian gods. Since their inception, the bumped heads of the bodies and lay scattered about the site. The top of Mount Nemrut offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The main attraction is watching the sunrise from the eastern terrace give the disembodied head of a beautiful orange hue and contributes to the sense of mystery of the place.





 Olmec Heads Statue:
According to an archeologist who recently participated in archeological work in Mexico, one of the oldest civilizations in the Americas, the Black (Negritic) Olmecs developed a calendar that goes back to about 3113 years before Christ. The archaeologist who appeared on the Art Bell show made that point.
The ancient "Olmecs" of Mexico and Central America are one of the most intriguing civilizations of South America. In fact they are the first civilization in Mexico and it was from them that all other civilizations in Mesoamerica followed. Nevertheless, the fact that the Olmecs were probably a black African origin of civilization has not been disclosed and the "Indian" elements in Mexico have received more attention to the extent that the Negroid surface of the old Mexican / Mesoamerican civilizations kept hidden . Yet in recent years, several levels of evidence has been found between the "Olmecs" to Africans in the western part of Africa.





Mother Russia Statue:
The Mother Russia statue, also known as The Motherland calls, is a famous statue in Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd, Russia commemorating the Battle of Stalingrad. When the monument was inaugurated in 1967 was the highest sculpture in the world, measuring 85 meters (279 feet) from the tip of his sword to the top of the pedestal. The figure itself measures 52 meters (170 feet), and the sword 33 meters (108 feet). Two hundred steps, symbolizing the 200 days of the Battle of Stalingrad, lead from the bottom of the hill to the monument. The image is currently leaning due to groundwater level changes caused movement of the foundations.





Lions of Delos Statue:
It is located near Mykonos, the island of Delos, one of the mythology, history and archeology of the most important sites in Greece. Delos is a position as a holy place for the Olympic Greek mythology, the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. The terrace of the Lions community was dedicated to Apollo by Naxos long before 600 BC.







 Little Mermaid Statue:
The Little Mermaid statue is a statue in Copenhagen harbor in Long Line in Denmark. Tourists who visit there were often surprised by the small size of the statue. Size of the Little Mermaid statue is only about 1.25 meters and weighing about 175 kg. It was designed by Edvard Eriksen, the statue was created in 1913 to commemorate the game from the Little Mermaid. The government of Copenhagen announced that the image can be further moved to the port to prevent further vandalism and to prevent the tourists climb.
